Welcome to OPAL Playtimes

At our school, we believe that play is an essential part of every child's development. That is why we have introduced OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning), an award-winning programme that helps schools create richer, to provide exciting play opportunities for our children.

Through OPAL, lunchtime has become more than just a break from learning. Children have the freedom to explore, create, imagine, build, problem-solve, collaborate and take appropriate risks in a safe and supervised environment. Research shows that high-quality play supports children's physical health, emotional wellbeing, social skills, resilience and confidence.

Resources and play opportunities, such as loose parts, construction materials, role-play areas, creative spaces and opportunities for adventurous play, are provided to enrich our children's play. These experiences encourage children to develop independence, teamwork and creativity while having fun outdoors.

Our aim is to ensure that every child enjoys a happy, active and rewarding lunchtime experience. We look forward to working with parents and carers as we develop our OPAL journey and create even more exciting opportunities for our children to learn through play.
