Writing
We aspire to enable children to communicate fluently and expressively through both their oral and written skills; to regard themselves as independent writers, and have the ability and understanding to write for different purposes and audiences. Writing is taught as daily literacy sessions as well as across the Curriculum. Using the ‘Talk for Writing’ framework and methods (developed by Pie Corbett), children are able to fully explore all aspects of high-quality example texts which are then used as a model to create their own pieces. Within this process they develop the full spectrum of skills from ‘reading to understand’ through to ‘critiquing and editing’.
