History teaching offers children opportunities to develop a sense of identity through learning about the development of Britain, Europe and the world. It helps children acquire knowledge of our cultural heritage and introduces them to a structural progression of historical skills and enquiry methods.  This enables them to begin to understand and interpret events and the lives of people in the past.  We teach history both as subject focussed lessons and cross curricular projects. Where possible we provide the children with opportunities to work with artefacts and archives or arrange visits to historic sites and museums.
