Computing

At Mountfield Primary School we believe that Computing is an key skill for being equipped for life in modern day Britain. Being a confident computational thinker prepares our pupils to fully participate in a rapidly changing society and economy, whereby an ever growing number of activities are dependent upon, and are transformed, by developing technology. We firmly believe that increasing access to, and capability in Computing, promotes initiative and independent learning. This in turn allows pupils to consider the implications of Computing in school, at home and beyond.

Computing is fundamental at Mountfield Primary School. It is used to enhance teaching and learning across school.  With high quality delivery of  internet safety sessions our pupils are educated on how to stay safe online and how to behave on the world wide web. Computing is taught across the school and pupils’ knowledge and skills are carefully scaffolded to ensure progression throughout the whole curriculum.

This is achieved through a carefully designed curriculum which allows for progression of skills throughout school. Children are taught subject specific vocabulary and, by clear teacher modelling, are aided to become confident, computational thinkers.

We follow the CEOP and SWGFL schemes of work for E-Safety.  Children also have opportunities to use Purple Mash to develop their Computing skills.
