Geography teaching starts with learning about our immediate environment widening to our region, country and onto to the wider world. At each stage comparisons and links are made between our area and other places. The teaching about places is undertaken by tackling a variety of issues or themes (e.g. homes, travel, pollution) and introduces children to a structured progression of geographical skills and enquiry methods. Geography may be taught as part of a project with numerous cross-curricular aspects.

Through our teaching of geography we aim to develop in our children an interest in and understanding of our world and its peoples; our effect on it and each other as well as its influence on us; our responsibilities as custodians of the earth for future generations.
