Welcome to

Mountfield

Primary School

P.E.

Physical Education develops pupils’ physical competence and confidence and their ability to use these to perform in a range of activities. It promotes skillfulness, physical development and knowledge of the body in action. Physical Education provides opportunities for pupils to be creative, competitive, cooperative and face up to different challenges as individuals and in groups and teams. It promotes positive attitudes toward healthy and active lifestyles.

Pupils learn how to think in different ways to suit a wide variety of creative, competitive, cooperative and challenging activities. They learn how to plan, perform and evaluate actions, ideas and performances to raise their aspirations and to improve their aptitudes, abilities, preferences and make choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity.

We seek to provide a full, varied and interesting Physical Education curriculum which challenges, engages and excites staff and pupils alike. We see Physical Education as a vital part of the education experience as a whole.

At Mountfield Primary school, we believe that PE is an extremely important foundation subject. PE provides children with skills they can use in their wider life. We aim to make PE an enjoyable, enriching and exciting subject that engages all pupils.

Throughout the year, we offer a range of sporting opportunities, including coaches, professional sports teams and clubs. We encourage children to work well as part of a team and have the skills to be resilient when we sometimes don’t win.  We also run sports themed days to further enrich our curriculum. We have a sports day, where children enjoy working as part of a team and trying new events and we have had girls sport themed days to encourage more girls to participate in sport. We aim to offer opportunities to all through PE.
