Safeguarding
Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility
Mountfield is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The welfare of children is paramount in all the work we do and in all the decisions we make.
We fully believe that all children, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation have an equal right to protection from all types of harm or abuse.
This means that we have robust safeguarding and Child Protection procedures in place which are rigorously applied to ensure our practices are highly effective. All staff, supply staff, volunteers, governors and trustees must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concerns, any observations or conversations heard, and report to one of our Designated Persons as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.
Our designated Persons for 2023-24 are:
Elaine Boardman (Lead)
Tim Godfrey
Katrina Fenwick
Claire Godfrey
Sam Hall
If your concerns relate to the actions of a member of staff (actions which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to one of the Designated Persons in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Head Teacher (or chair of Governors or CEO if the concern relates to the Head Teacher)- who will consider what action to take.
